Very Cool Choices for Us Girls

A shout out to all my female friends (Guys – turn away now, you don’t want to know this, I promise).

I’ve come across some really cool information for those of us of menstruating age.  This little girl (only 16 and CEO of her own company) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbnpvmbFQoM introduces alternative menstrual products that are safe for the environment and safe for you and exciting to use (bet you never said that about a pad, eh?)  She also has a comparison of menstrual cups http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xsaf10dy0Y which is surprisingly interesting.  If you’ve never even heard of a menstrual cup (which I hadn’t until a couple years ago) go check it out.  There are choices out there, ladies!  Healthier, happier choices.

She’s well informed about the environmental impact of feminine hygiene products and health issues as well (did you know that feminine hygiene products are not sterile and contain not only bacteria, but dioxin - an FDA declared carcinogen, and insecticide?)  Her information is worth checking out and on top of that she’s adorable with a cheeky British accent.

On to a less sensitive subject, I met with a library friend for lunch last weekend.  Not only was it good to see her, but the conversation was great and the food fabulous.  I got some juicy gossip about the library and have to say that I’m glad I’m not part of that negative atmosphere anymore.  Apparently the manager who was hired shortly before I left has turned into a diva and is causing much frustration.  Never thought I’d say that they deserve it, but I’m going to say it – they deserve it!

But it was great to catch up with her on other things as well.  She is a fun, fun, fun person!  I do miss my library friends.  I mean, I miss them A LOT!  I also miss being part of (what used to be) a very positive environment that was doing something great for the community.  If that positive environment hadn’t gone away, neither would I.  But I’m on a good path now – one that I’ve wanted to do since I was about 7 or 8.  I feel really, really lucky.
